Our Story

From a Home Kitchen to Add2Cart

Our story began with a Buko Pie. 🥧❤️

In May 2020, during the pandemic, Ma Lourdes Sampang a.k.a. Malou Sampang started a small home-based business in Sydenham called I Knead You Home-Made Pies & Bread.

What began in her home kitchen quickly grew into something much bigger.

Her homemade Filipino pies, especially her much-loved Buko Pies, developed a loyal following across Victoria. Customers also enjoyed I Knead You pies in Adelaide and parts of New South Wales.

What started as a small home business became a brand known well beyond its local community.

The Next Chapter

The Dream of a Patisserie

As I Knead You continued to grow, Malou incorporated I Knead You Patisserie Pty Ltd, with the dream of opening a dedicated patisserie.

But life doesn't always follow the plan.

At the time, Malou was going through a difficult period in her personal life, and the patisserie shop never opened.

The dream, however, didn't disappear.

Instead, the experience became the foundation for the next chapter.

A Place for the Community

West Side Filipino Asian Grocery

The next step was the creation of West Side Filipino Asian Grocery.

Having spent years connecting with customers through Filipino food, Malou saw an opportunity to create a place where the community could find the Filipino and Asian groceries, ingredients and products they missed from home.

West Side grew into a physical retail business serving the local community.

But there was another opportunity waiting!

About a year later, Malou decided to take the business in another direction and created West Side Add2Cart Asian Grocery, using I Knead You Patisserie Pty Ltd as the business entity.

And Add2Cart became more than just an online store.

Add2Cart is both a physical store and an online shopping destination.

Customers can walk into our store, browse our shelves and shop in person, or shop from home through our online store.

This gives our customers the best of both worlds — the experience of discovering products in-store and the convenience of having them delivered or ordering online.

Built Together

A Family Business

Today, Add2Cart is being built with the help of Malou's son, Daniel Oliver, and his partner, Jane.

Their involvement has become an important part of the day-to-day running and growth of Add2Cart.

Like many family businesses, Add2Cart isn't just about one person.

It's about family working together, sharing ideas, helping each other and building something for the future.

And that's something we're very proud of.

From that first home-based business in Sydenham in May 2020, Buko Pie helped introduce Malou and I Knead You to customers across Victoria and beyond.

Today, those Filipino favourites continue to be part of the Add2Cart family.
